Holy shit we have a new contender for best film of the year. I loved everything about this one, its just absolutelt wonderful. Hilarious throughout, with amazing performances from Sam Neill as well as whoever the little kid is (he is just amazing in every scene). Direction from Taiki Waititi is wonderful, with some really awesome 360 shots as a standout (the dude is amazing); the film was just the perfect blend of comedy and drama and heartwarming-ness. The tone is so unique and odd and quirky it just cant really be compred to anything else. There are loads of things that wouldnt have worked in any other film - weirdly off performances from Side characters etc - but Waititi's direction makes it work somehow. I was just so happy throughout, I didn't want it to end.
