Superargo’s review published on Letterboxd:
I went to high school with a stoner douchebag who was always talking about this movie. he’d always be like, “I’m outta here—I’m gonna go home and watch THE LAIR OF THE WHITE WORM again.” I avoided this movie for years just because of this guy. finally watched it only because it was available for free on Amazon Prime.
it is a FUCKING MASTERPIECE. wickedly clever and entertaining. and INSANE. Hugh Grant dreams of Amanda Donohoe and Catherine Oxenberg as catfighting stewardesses and at the end Peter Capaldi battles the evil snake people with BAGPIPES. risk-taking, feverishly OTT shit like this is what I find myself responding to most enthusiastically these days—movies that are thrillingly, thrashingly ALIVE.
that stoner douchebag was also always talking about what a great band FireHouse was. one out of two ain’t bad.
