Not even gonna pretend that I understood everything after one viewing but this is my favorite type of mindfuck. The type that has you buzzing as you leave the theater with different questions and theories. I am already looking forward to my 2nd viewing.
There is a fine balance between suspense and horror; I've really enjoyed Jordan Peele's movies so far because they aren't ultra-gory and he knows how to build tension and deliver on a set-piece without having to rely on cheap tricks like jumpscares or a loud bang.
My favorite shot had to be the overhead as the family is walking down the beach with their shadows. But the cinematography on the scene where Elizabeth Moss's family gets murked is just 😙👌, loved the way the twin doppelgangers appear.
Give Lupita another Oscar for this.
