It’s always going to make me angry how Amazon treated this movie.
When they saw how much general audiences hated a movie like Hereditary and it didn’t do as well at Venice as they hoped the movie was basically dead to them. I never saw a poster or trailer at the theatre and their only promotion was a twitter account and Thom Yorke doing his best. The movie lost 12 million dollars because Amazon was too scared to take a chance.
This movie deserves the fanfare Hereditary, The Witch and Midsommar all have. I know film twitter loved it but all of those other movies had some sort of chance to find other audiences too. It deserves the merchandise those movies have, the cosplays, the fan art. It would have been so much better off at another studio.
Also pushing it as a remake was so dumb because it’s not even close to a remake. It’s an expansion of a concept, it’s literally a rebirth which is the whole point.
While I’m at it Suspirium is a better song than Shallow and it’s a crime it didn’t even get nominated. Also the fact that I had to hear that RBG song at all is a federal offence.
