The Night House

The Night House ★★★★

Rebecca Hall’s Hereditary moment. The Night House plays the same parallels like Hereditary. It deals with the stages of grief and paranoia. The set pieces in this play out like a terrible sleep paralysis episode. The film has a profound effect on whether the events that are taking place are real or not. Another film that this reminded me of is Personal Shopper. Both end ambiguously and ambitiously.

This is definitely not for mainstream audiences. At some times, it can be frustrating figuring out the main theme of the film. But, it’s clear in broad daylight once the third act starts rolling. This was a great surprise.
