representation in film has definitely been improving over the last few years. we’re seeing more young girls represented in stories with complex female leads, more queer people represented in touching and heartwarming romances and finally, at the forefront of it all, joker (2019) decided to take it upon itself to provide us with some well needed representation of the incel community. truly inspirational.
'nowhere' simultaneously takes the piss out of teen coming of age culture whilst treating it with an odd amount of clarity, and that's what makes it so fun. you can relate, but only to an extent. it crosses the border into absurdity, which really makes you reflect and say 'huh. maybe i don't have it so bad afterall'. the common day to day angst filled dilemmas of being a teen are blatantly amplified to the point of ridiculousness. feel like…
