It's a gritty modern day western of wide vistas. An atmospheric (mainly through silence and a sense of impending doom) chase movie. However when the characters do talk to eachother the interactions are mesmerising and the dialogue galvanising. It is a Coen flick after all.

Javier Bardem delivers a remarkable performance of a brooding menace. A performance far more harrowing than a Jason Voohrees or similar. Definitely a guilty pleasure of mine.

Drive is, in short, fucking awesome. From the moment it starts, our nameless main character is established in the coolest way possible: a high-speed car chase that showcases his nerves of steel, consummate professionalism, insane driving skills, and silent nature. This is actually one of those films that's so bad it's kind of funny. The only character of any intelligence or possible sympathy is the psycho - in this case a kid. The adults are so pathetically naive, and blunder into fatal situations so easily, that it's ludicrously funny to watch.

After so many countless times watching this, I love how all of his victims don't give a shit about what he's saying. No one listens to him, no one takes him seriously, everyone sees him a joke, the only person that respects him is himself.

Honestly considering the circumstances, I think it would be wisest if the people of Haddonfield just let Michael be in that house of his, and then everyone just goes out of town for that last week of October.
