Lee Chang-dong does a fantastic job adapting Murakami’s short story. While it is a slow-burn (pun intended), the film captures the heart of the story and leaves you with lingering emotions.
Also- Not sure if it was on purpose but noticed the little Easter egg of Faulkner. He, too, had a short story titled the same as Murakami's.
