• Adam Sandler gives the single greatest performance I’ve ever seen in this film. His work in Uncut Gems is also easily a top fiver for me. Imagine if his career was comprised mostly of dramatic performances, he’d so easily be one of the most respected actors to ever walk the face of the planet.
• I don’t know if there’s any film out there that understands social anxiety better than Punch-Drunk Love. It’s one of few movies where I think I feel seen... ya know? Flawless from front to back. Best film of the early 2000s, and PTA’s magnum opus? (I’ve yet to see Inherent Vice or Magnolia, but they’re both very high on my immediate watchlist.)
• Mom liked it :)
