While I kind of love the idea of this being a "riches to rags" story, I don't really feel like it plays up the schadenfreude angle. While David Siegel definitely ends up looking a bit villainous towards the end, Jackie never felt cartoony or less than human to me. I really was kind of rooting for her by the film's end. Fascinating how the doc initially intended to tell a story of one family's extravagance and excess until real life happened and it became a story of that family learning a lesson in humility and change. Goes from head-shaking to nearly heart-breaking in a matter of minutes.
