If there’s only one single thing good about society, it’s that Mad Max: Fury Road is considered one of the best movies of all time.
I know this movie doesn’t work for everyone and I respect that and understand why.
That said, it really worked for me as someone with a history of deeply emotional revenge fantasies who thinks a lot (like, a lot a lot) about the ways in which structures as they currently exist prevent certain kinds of people who cause certain kinds of harm from being held accountable in any meaningful way unless they’re made to feel personally threatened. It’s definitely bleak…
Obviously, I loved this! The convoluted, stylish, imaginary stress of a Nolan movie is so soothing to me and this one is even more convoluted than normal. It’s like “sorry, none of my other problems exist right now because all my brain power is occupied by trying to make enough sense of this movie to enjoy it!” I understood exactly the bare minimum amount necessary to enjoy this, so thank you to this movie for distracting me in the waning…
