Tallyn Owens’s review published on Letterboxd:
I know this movie doesn’t work for everyone and I respect that and understand why.
That said, it really worked for me as someone with a history of deeply emotional revenge fantasies who thinks a lot (like, a lot a lot) about the ways in which structures as they currently exist prevent certain kinds of people who cause certain kinds of harm from being held accountable in any meaningful way unless they’re made to feel personally threatened. It’s definitely bleak to consider that the only two options for men to be held accountable are by perpetrating some degree of harm against them in retaliation/generally engaging in risky/frowned-upon behavior OR by implicating them in the criminal legal system, which is untenable and must be abolished.
Carey is amazing, great use of Chris Lowell, who I think is incredible. Visuals and music are great. I enjoyed watching this movie!
