I'm not a superhero film fan nor much of an action person, but THE BATMAN checked many of my boxes. it's sexy, thrilling, moody, suspenseful and the most goth Batman film yet. Pattinson gives it his all as a self-deprecating and masochistic Bruce Wayne trying to do good as a savior whilst realizing he is simply putting a band-aid on a gaping wound with his acts of heroism. Lovely film. Funny, humanist-a film about sisterhood, family, and the magic of cooking. The female leads were all fabulous-loved how each sister was so different character wise (thank you ang Lee for such rounded female characters)! The father figure was complex and brilliantly acted. May be the most tender ang lee film yet ! (Granted, I still need to see the wedding banquet)

Erika's character is so complex. She is the sort of person that in real life I'd be terrified of-her enjoyment of others' pain and obsessive sexual voyeurism is disturbing to its core (also her own self mutilation) and yet I was fascinated by…

tough to watch-a film dealing with taboo (paedophilia) in combination with the struggles of adolescence and a broken family structure.

I wasn't completely satisfied with the plotline/structure for one I didn't fully understand Gary (although perhaps that's the point-he's neither good nor bad, he's deeply flawed but we seem him take care of Howie and thus we begin to see him as sympathetic) and perhaps also the tone or atmosphere of the film (the strange music kind of confused me).…
