The first 2 hours of this are just cinematic magic. The first scene in particularly is just one of the most impactful openings to a film I’ve ever seen and has you enthralled right from the get-go. There are things that ‘our time’ manages to say through its story that are so hard to capture on screen; emotions that can’t be put into words but can only be felt...and it does it in a way with such enchantment and fluidity that I thought this was possibly going to be the best film I’d seen this year so far. Then it got past the 2 hour mark and just went downhill for me. I don’t have an issue with a 3 hour film as long as it keeps me interested throughout and everything feels warranted - Our time didn’t do that and instead felt over indulgent and repetitive in its final act. It’s a shame as if it had continued the way it had started this would have been an easy 5 star for me but by the end I was just itching to get out of my seat and leave....
