I am so glad I re-watched this. Geeze the human psyche is so complex, especially when it comes to feeling adequate and vulnerable enough for a relationship.
Theodore’s social network is woven nicely through the film. A great contrast to the intimacy he has with Samantha. But even without a word, AI could never compare to another human. The exciting part of these relationships is the good and the bad. But without Samantha, I don’t think Theodore would have gained a new capacity of love. He was brutally honest and didn’t get rejected. But then he did because the AI wanted freedom, which ultimately freed Theodore. Damn this was good.
