Without question the *most* digital movie I’ve ever seen. Alleyways and warehouses are ruptured by colour, causing the bodies vacating them to appear more as amorphous shapes. Which draws out the emotional landscape of this thing in terrifying ways. In the teenager’s final moments all that surrounds her is a literal glow of innocence as she’s shot in cold blood by the teacher that took advantage of her adolescent affection. Eviscerated me.

kiarostami reflecting upon the forward momentum disaster brought to tehran as both his home and a past subject. the caverns of these locations are inspected more closely than in where is my friends house, signifying that through the pain and rubble all they can do is love deeper upon rebuilding. an awareness and gratitude to one’s surroundings that is only brought through loss. one of the most hopeful movies i’ll ever see.
