No Time to Die

No Time to Die ★★★

I appreciate how much this tries to get back to the whimsical nature of classic Bond, doubling down on car gadgets and puns, but it doesn’t quite hit the same when the film is still obligated to maintain the self-seriousness of its Craig predecessors. Related is how sexless the movie is, though on the other hand Ana de Armas drinking soda is the horniest this franchise has been in years. The teal color scheme looks great, Rami Malek is perfectly cast as a weird guy, and Fukunaga is the real deal, but I checked out a bit after Santiago and couldn’t quite get invested again.
