A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master 1988

I've reviewed this countless times so you check my full thoughts there, but this is a film I will log on here once or twice a year because it's one of my all-time favourites. This is the pinnacle of Freddy pretty much and it does a lot of things well. Great creativity with the kills, really good visuals and effects, a likeable group of characters, and epic 80's music and fashion. It's also very quotable and I have an eternal crush on Alice. I have no idea what she sees in Dan. I'm going to go now and watch Dynasty.

Well this sure is a 2000's horror movie. It's also a remake of a Japanese film I've never seen so this is a product of its time in every way. I'm not even opposed to these things, but why does this look so bad? I know horror from this time has this washed out style and I can go with it, but this is particularly drab. After X, Pearl, and this I'm not convinced that Mia Goth isn't actually insane. Well she's great again here and Alexander Skarsgård is her co-star and he gives a good performance as well. As for the plot it follows a couple who go to a resort only to become entangled in a bunch of weird violent and sexual behavior. Okay so this is amazing...pun intended. Like Endgame it's really quite a miracle this all comes together so well. It's a lot of balls to juggle, but everything that came before really just adds to this film and it retroactively makes all those movies better too (and I already liked them).
