I want to get day drunk with Alison Brie. I guess this loses a bit of impact on second viewing knowing everything that is coming, but it's still fantastic. Previous review:
Okay this was pretty awesome. I knew basically nothing before watching it and I have to say that it has to be the best rape/revenge movie I've seen. It also kind of functions as a dark romantic comedy and does a pretty great job of subverting expectations. Whenever it felt like it was becoming predictable it surprised me and I definitely didn't see that ending coming.
Carey Mulligan gives an excellent performance, which makes you sympathize with her, but at the same time she is kind of unlikeable. The supporting cast is good too and the film gets an extra half star for Alison Brie. How the hell is she not more of a leading lady? Anyway, there are some funny moments to go with the dark subject and it's consistently engaging with a catchy soundtrack (shout out to 2 Become 1). I'd imagine some people will dislike this because of its #metoo-ness, but I'm not one of those people. Great movie.
