David’s review published on Letterboxd:
After proving to be perhaps the most promising new talent in the horror genre with The Witch, director Robert Eggers has crafted another dense and supremely mounted blend of intense horror and poignant drama centered around crumbling character dynamics, and it’s still mighty exhilarating to watch.
As expected, made more sense the second time around. My interpretation is now clear enough to be emotionally and intellectually satisfied while also unclear enough to leave an air of mystery around the film and for me to eagerly await a rewatch. My favorite kind of narrative. The Persona vibes also felt a lot stronger upon a second viewing.
