It’s funny that the iconic Jason that we think of doesn’t actually show up until the third film in the franchise. But here he is in all of his masked, machete wielding terror.
Take out the really terrible 3-D gimmicks that would have been annoying actually in 3-D and are just laughably bad in 2-D and your left with a pretty entertaining slasher, one more in keeping with what most people probably expect from a Friday the 13th film. Lots of bloody kills, lots of dumb teenagers, some decent scares and tension. It’s an entertaining film, probably better than Part 2 in some ways. But those gimmicky 3-D bits are just unforgivable, which knocks my score down slightly.
