Tom Hanks’s impression of a late 90s Adam Sandler SNL character didn’t not work for me

My family doesn’t watch movies together very often. My mom doesn’t really enjoy watching movies, so she can be very picky about the movies I suggest to her. My dad enjoys watching movies, but his work schedule makes it difficult to watch movies with him, since he can sometimes work 72-hour shifts. Zoolander is one of the main movies I remember watching with both of my parents growing up. My parents were laughing nearly the whole time. I honestly didn’t…

"Oh yes!!!!! They got Guy to be in this?!" - Old Woman next to me when Guy Fieri came on screen.

    - 2023: boxd.it/l1iq4

Fuck this movie for making me root for Tom Brady.... and for making me cry while Tom Brady was on screen.

While I had to listen to old people talk at full volume for the whole film I still managed to enjoy myself. Creating four fun roles for senior icons is a very worthwhile task and…

    Anchor Rancor

★★★½ Watched by Anchor Rancor 11 Mar 2022

Very cute. All the relationships whether mother/daughter or Mei's friend group, are really well drawn out. I liked the awkward humor and the really specific time this takes place in. The character designs at first didn't land very well with me, but I warned up to the style really fast and I'm glad it's so distinct from other Pixar movies. Amazing color palette

    Christina

    ★★★★½ Watched by Christina 11 Mar 2022

I never thought I’d see the day when menstruation would be mentioned-even indirectly-in a Pixar film, and that’s just one of the welcome surprises in Turning Red. It’s rare that any film, let alone an animated one, takes such a sympathetic and nuanced view of the inner lives of teenage girls; it perfectly captures the fact that the transition to adulthood can be an awkward and confusing time, with many teens forced to reckon with decisions that could affect the…

    ★★★★★ Watched by Christina 01 Feb 2023

Good luck ever hearing Under Pressure the same way again. That dance scene alone would have secured Aftersun its 5 stars, but every other element of this film is practically perfect: the sublime ocean photography, the incorporation of camcorder footage, the intercuts between the past and present, the intimate father-daughter moments that are sweet but so achingly sad the more is revealed. Paul Mescal is seriously challenging Colin Farrell as my Best Actor pick this year. The emotional vulnerability he…
