I don't know why this one was necessary if that's all they were gonna do with it. The series had a conclusion already. Oh well, this was still fun at least. I mean, it's really just more of the same ingredients that we're already familiar with, but those ingredients still produce a tasty cake if baked just right. I think I still prefer the over-the-top insanity of VI and VII. To its credit, however, this does seem like a more polished and accessible film. Too bad the critics didn't think so. It's pretty telling that this has a 35% critic score on RT, and yet it has a 90% audience score. Critics have never had much respect for the horror genre, and that's fine with me.
