Good Time

Good Time ★★★★★

everyday, I think about untwisting and untangling these strings I'm in, and to lead a pure life...

a neon nightmare, closing in tighter and tighter on its victim until the inescapable suffocation turns to mere acceptance; acceptance that no matter what you do, nothing will ever change. this thing is a visceral assault on all fronts, constantly escalating the terms of what is possible in a film to miraculous audio-visual heights. from the utterly insane opening credits to the ending that depressingly encapsulates the main message the film tries to present, Good Time never lets up, trying its hardest to wind its way from a nightmarish hellscape, bouncing from shady locale to locale and hazardous decision to decision. naturally, Robert Pattinson gives one of the best performances of the year, one that feels grimy and chaotic yet heartfelt and compassionate. this is truly a diabolical trip through an unforgettable series of events, one where the brightest places are the darkest, the meanest people are the kindest, and the best days of our lives may never come; but it's a nice dream, of course. it's a nice dream.
