The Devil All the Time

The Devil All the Time ★★★★½

The Devil All the Time is certainly a tough experience, in fact, it took me two nights to watch it all the way through. However, with fantastic casting, unending atmosphere, and an original and sprawling script, it's really an amazing and epic saga of interconnected characters and stories. I love the use of the narrator to bring a bit of warmth and humor to the dread, but it never distracts from the overall mood. It reminds me of The Shawshank Redemption in the way that everything comes full circle, and justice is so satisfyingly served. It also reminds me of The Place Beyond the Pines, but with an even more complex and cohesive narrative. Campos is a writer/director that everyone should look out for. 9/10

P.S I wish Gyllenhaal was in this. I know he's producer, but I wish he was actually in this.
