Thanks to a career best performance from Andrew Garfield, Tick Tick Boom is likely to be one of the best films of 2021, certainly in my opinion. His Jonathan Larson accurately portrays the ups and the downs of an overly creative mind trying to find a place on or off Broadway, battling the mental demons of what to expect from yourself in comparison to the lives of others. Yet Garfield's performance isn't the only major strong point. I'd go as far to say that the music, when taken as a whole collection, is the best line-up of songs in any film musical...ever. Toe tapping goodness.
