Perhaps it's me but The Florida Project did absolutely do nothing for me. I found the characters to be insufferable and the dialogue often unbearable. There I sat, waiting for a turning point where I could perhaps connect but it never came. There was no build-up nor pay-off. There's no clue of character progress either. This was probably intentional, pointing out the vicious circle but didn't make it any more interesting. Not to mention the mumble rapping playing over and over again in the background, only pouring salt in my wounds.

I do admit that The Florida Project is very well shot, feels very vibrant and the kids' acting is quite good. That's not enough though to compensate for its running time.
