The premise on it's own is nothing out of this world or something you haven't seen but what makes The Northman stand out is it's excellent execution. The gritty, rough style matches the primal nature of this film as did the magnificent performances of the cast and use of symbolism. It's very slow-paced but it doesn't come without reward. Robert Eggers calmed my itch for now but I'm eager for so much more. To völhall!
Also, missed opportunity for naming William Dafoe, Willhelm The Fool.
