The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 ★★★★★

I adore the self-awareness while it manages to maintain a perfect balance between this ridiculous atmosphere and an overall creepiness. Tobe Hoper maintains a certain nightmarish mood with outrageous designs and psychedelic colour schemes. This time around they focus on more than just Leatherface himself as well. It's time to meet the freak family,  who's heavily featured throughout.

Highly recommended to people who are fond of 80's horror and horror with comedic elements such as other titles like Re-Animator, Dead or Alive or the Evil Dead franchise. It's basically about a hard-working family living in Texas trying to make a name for themselves in the meat business.

For better or for worse, Tobe Hoper went for the complete opposite way in terms of setting the tone compared to its predecessor. Different from what people expected but oozing with personality and charm. It has its obvious flaws but I sincerely believe it meets the standards that were set. There's no need to analyze the protagonist's actions or take anything too serious. Let's leave the dissection to Leatherface and the gang. Easily one of the most misunderstood B movies. Exploitation at its finest.
