    Ingrid Goes West is a modern social problems film where the problem is mostly incidental to the film itself. Ingrid wants to investigate the relationship between social media and mental illness but fixates almost exclusively on the latter.     Jojo Rabbit is a bit too clumsy for its complex humanism. Moments abound that seem to affirm both an inalienable human dignity and the Rommel myth. Though Taika Waititi literally Hitler, this is more an error in execution than intent. Jojo’s excellent cast more than masques even the film’s most glaring flaws, a testament to their performances.     This is easily George Lucas’ best for me. Star Wars is undoubtedly more culturally impactful and will assuredly be his most enduring legacy, but American Graffiti is the superior film in my book.

    It’s apples to oranges comparing a teenaged period piece and an intergalactic epic, but there are similarities.
