The Sons of Sam: A Descent Into Darkness

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

sons of sam doc: a white cis het man drives himself insane bc no one will listen or believe him

    women the world over: 🥱🙄🥴

boring, another netflix true crime doc that could have been done in half the number of episodes

  • The Rachel Divide

    The Rachel Divide

Interesting doc but she is a wholly unlikable, self centred, self serving, fraud with a severe case of victim complex.

  • Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List

Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List

I’m about 84% sure Naomi is a sociopath + I don’t like or agree with the fact we’re meant to empathise with her but...I actually really enjoyed the film & soundtrack

  • Blockers

I was pleasantly surprised by Blockers - it’s consistently funny throughout & felt nostalgic (The noughties answer to American Pie?) with some vaguely feminist conversations, although I could hold back on groaning with cringe at some points. Well worth a watch!

    Ready Player One

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

I loved the book & was excited for the movie but also fully aware it was going to be difficult to capture all the novel’s magic in 140mins.

    The good:
It’s visually stunning & this was made even more glorious by taking advantage of my local cinema’s 4DX screen for the first time

The scene for the challenge to obtain the second key. Although totally different to the book (more on that later), it was nostalgic, cheesy, 80’s goodness.

    I actually liked…

  • Red Sparrow

    Red Sparrow

    Stuff I didn’t like:
    Pacing - too slow
    Jennifer Lawrence’s Russian “accent”
Sexual violence - far too much
The whore school scene set in the school hall just after the r*pe

    Stuff I did like
    Hair & makeup
    Joel Edgerton

  • Death Note

    Death Note

The whitewashing is unacceptable but as someone coming in fresh, having not reading the manga series, I actually liked Death Note & it’s Mean Girls “Burn Book” meets Final Destination vibe alongside it’s cheesy 80’s ballad-filled soundtrack. Willem Defoe is awesome, as is Lakeith Stanfield. Nat Wolff on the otherhand...not so much.
