i'm devastated. i'm absolutely devastated. what this character & this film meant to so many people - specifically the Black community - is immeasurable, and i'm so, so grateful it was brought to life by someone who was a masterclass in empathy, strength, grace, and kindness.

how come when young ethan hawke in a leather jacket overshares about his parental trauma, it’s “beautiful” and “enduring” but when I overshare about my parental trauma, people say things like “amanda this sounds like you should see your therapist” and “please stop crying into my lap” 🙄🙄🙄
TLDR; GO SEE THE FAREWELL! it’s beautiful, empathetic, moving, and downright sublime. please support asian american voices in film!!! it is so, so important for people to see and hear their stories represented on screen!!!
