Gone Girl

Gone Girl ★★★★

Somehow, David Fincher manages to outdo himself, even despite the inexplicable presence of Tyler Perry, with this distinguished high-class thriller, which not only flourishes at a time when Hollywood largely appears to have forgotten how to make them let alone trust moviegoers to go see them, but sticks fully in your craw, bothers your ideas of what's right and wrong, and effectively destabilizes any kind of moralistic affectation you might bring into the theater. On top of that, it also works as a scandalous satire that warps conventional thoughts about the longing of human desire and the swiftness of love's deterioration.
