I love John Cassavetes' work but haven't watched this in ages. The main thing that I was struck by after seeing it again was how incandescent Gena Rowlands was, you just can't take your eyes off her. If she had been around during the studio system in the 30s and 40s she could have been a glamorous star as well as amazing actress. I would have loved to see her doing classic era noir (we get a hint of that…

Nothing surprising or wildly innovative here but a very genuine and engaging portrait of Belfast at the start of The Troubles. No spoilers. This had all the action you want from a Bond film but with an unexpected emotional weight. Clock in at nearly 3 hours but doesn't feel it. Lots of callbacks/references to past Bond films and to Fleming himself.

This is a fitting and satisfying resolution to the cycle of Daniel Craig Bond films.
