Dora and the Lost City of Gold ★★★

Really more fun than it has any right to be, and Isabel Moner has a lot to do with that. She's perfectly cast as the plucky explorer but also sells Dora's moments of self-doubt and loneliness. And I admire how the extremely silly plot lets her and her band of social outcasts showcase their talents, gaining a new sense of confidence and self-worth in the process. Admittedly the humor doesn't always work and often feels like it's straining, especially when Eugenio Derbez is on screen (though I feel like he would be great in a Coen Brothers movie).

Also, Danny Trejo voices a monkey named Boots. So it's got that going for it.
