Sean Gilman’s review published on Letterboxd:
It’s maybe more terrible the second time around, but I guess I still liked it. Individual parts are good, take away all the things that almost immediately negate those parts, and all the stuff that’s trying to placate the angry nerds, and it might have worked. Some cool shots too, I dig the horror strobes of the finale, though the other half of it is straight ripped from Endgame, and it was bad then too. Driver and Ridley are really good, and so is Anthony Daniels, the MVP of the movie’s first half for sure.
Weird how two Adam Driver movies in the last few weeks climax with Sondheim’s “Being Alive”.
Saw this with an opening night audience and heard something I’d never heard in a theatre before: people laughing at, not with, a Star Wars movie. Though to be fair, when I saw Attack of the Clones in the theatre it was in Barcelona and the laughable parts of that movie are much better when they’re dubbed into a language you don’t speak.
