Steve Dickson’s review published on Letterboxd:
Second viewing of the day and I loved this even more this time. There’s so much I missed first time with all the clever foreshadowing and the odd wee look from certain characters that gave clues as to what was happening. The score is brilliant and the sets and scenery are wonderful.
They may have times this really well as people my age that grew up on Star Wars as a kid probably need something big, new and epic with a bit more substance to it. I’m in my 40s and this is like my new adult Star Wars. It’s absolutely brilliant.
If you are not completely sold on it first viewing I would certainly give it another go as there is a lot in there. Plus the more tickets they sell the more likely it is we will get the next instalment of this!
I did toy with the idea of a third viewing today but I’m going to leave that for another day as I don’t want to potentially ruin that second viewing which might be one of my very best experiences at the cinema since I was a kid.
Cinema is back! What a film.
Might have to get Letterboxd to add a sixth star just for this one. Failing that I can go and knock a star off every diary entry I’ve made so far so this is on its own! Haha. Ok I’m going a bit overboard here but this is the best thing I’ve watched in years. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.
