Steve Dickson’s review published on Letterboxd:
Really beautifully made film. The colourful aesthetic is a nice contrast to the bleak story that is being told. When Willem Defoe is the nice guy in the film you know you are in trouble. The young girl in this is slightly older than my wee kid and the film really had an impact on me. Quite heartbreaking at times and the young girl is a very good actor as well as the rest of the cast giving great performances.
Don’t think I will paint my house purple any time soon. Will keep it dull on the outside and happy on the inside!
