A Quiet Place

A Quiet Place ★★★★½

PSA: the first 20 minutes of this in a packed theatre is HELL. i heard every whisper, every cough, every bag opening and every crunch of popcorn. watch this in the smallest cinema possible.

So now that we've got that out of the way. John Krasinski, Mr. Jim Halpert himself, you talented bastard. I don't know how he pulled this off but consider me startled and super fucking impressed. While i do think the first act drags and due to the increased suspense factor is slightly boring, im glad i can say its the exact opposite for the rest of the film. This is suspense at its finest. Blunt is at the top of her game (when isn't she?) and even Krasinski himself puts in a pretty incredible performance. I'm gonna give the kids a bit of let off seeing as though i didn't expect much from them going in anyway but if i had a gripe with the film apart from the first act, it'd be them. I'm not letting the amazing score go unrecognised either, its eery as hell and adds so much tension to the film (that isn't even needed but you won't hear me complaining) and it actually had me gasping for air myself at multiple points. There's also so many potential classic horror scenes in here but between the bathtub scene and the flooding sequence i can positively say i haven't been that creeped out in a looooong time. I am unsure on the ending though, I'm twisted and wanted something more(?) but that's just me, it suffices as is. I do love this, more than i intended to, and i really fucking love Krasinski and Blunt as a power couple. Please, please, please give me more. I'd honestly watch them two mop a floor together.
