Jack’s review published on Letterboxd:
before i start i want you all to know that this review is going to be about a friend I've made and how much she means to me rather than the actual film itself but just for the record, even though you already know, this is ridiculously good and has one of the best endings ever and if you haven't seen it yet - what on gods green earth are you doing?
ANYWAY... this was a special occasion for me as it was the 50th(!) film me and issy have watched together. i know that's going to sound lame to a lot of you and i won't blame you for thinking that but as someone who's never had a good run with friends and lost his closest friend a while ago it truly means the world to me that I've met someone as genuine, kind, caring, loving, hilarious and downright incredible as iss. about 9 months ago i noticed she was watching the perks of being a wallflower and asked if i could join because its my all-time favourite movie and it was her first viewing, she (thankfully) was kind enough to accept and i think it's pretty safe to say our friendship has blossomed into something special ever since? you have all probably noticed us log films together every weekend which is when hop on rabbit or maybe you've seen me recently just watching all of her favourite films (she has amazing taste btw) but what you all don't see is what goes on behind the scenes. i can't tell you how many times she's cheered me up and left me with the biggest smile on my face when I'm feeling down, i can't tell you how many times she's brightened up my day by just existing and i can't tell you, or her, exactly how much she means to me because i dont think there's a word out there for it. the way we say the same stuff in sync all the time is freaky but awesome at the same time and i love how we both spend 60% of the time just complimenting all the outfits we see, its really just the small things like that, that make my days so much better than they intend to be. i could go on and on and on about how much i adore her as a person which is probably the best compliment i can give her and i know you're reading this so i want you to know that you should believe in yourself more and just know that you're all of these things I've mentioned and so much more, i really hope to meet you one day soon and watch a movie with you in person, i don't think anything would make me happier than that. cheers (with a glass of water) to 50 films and many more to come, goose! 💛
