Fred 🇵🇷’s review published on Letterboxd:
This movie ended racism, homophobia, AND made a valiant effort at humanizing footballers and cheerleaders. And it somehow did all of this in the samey pastel hell of Black Mirror: Nosedive.
Damn, this ice cold strawberry lemonade of a movie hit the SPOT. I felt like I could run a marathon after watching it. Sometimes you just need some over-sugared transparent DCOM entertainment with strings so obvious you can see them shamelessly turning your frown upside down. The leads are cute AF and thanks to some banger songs, they help sell this beyond its obvious derivations and kid-friendly treatment. Judge me all you want but I couldn't get enough of this.
P.S. Depression? I don't know her.
