The Exorcist 1973
the crucifix scene remains as one of the only horror scenes I have to look away from. not necessarily because of what regan’s doing (while of course that adds to it- prob the most disturbing imagery I’ve ever seen), but because when chris comes into the room and sees what regan’s doing and saying- she knows instantly that her daughter is gone and that there’s nothing she can do to save her. and the way ellen burstyn screams… it’s SO sad and TERRIFYING.
