Matt Haller’s review published on Letterboxd:
To sum up my thoughts on The Holy Mountain, I’ll say something similar to what YMS said about The Godfather. I can appreciate and recognize how absolutely extraordinary the production design, costumes, cinematography, editing, score, etc. is, and in that sense I absolutely love the film, but I’m not a huge fan of this style of film. It’s a strange psychedelic mix of Italian cinema and third cinema that I just don’t find all that appealing or interesting to watch. I can also appreciate the commentary of this film but I’ve preferred it better in other films. Again, it’s not a bad film at all, like at all I mean just look at it, it’s just not one that I admire all that much and one that I’d want to go back to often. I’ll definitely rewatch this again, I want to show my mom because she’s a yoga teacher so I’d wonder what she’d think, but overall it’s not my thing.
Sorry Anthony and Nigel, I’ll like this film more once you like The Incredible Hulk.
