Despite reports of how batshit crazy Old allegedly is, I was shocked at how unphased and natural it seemed. Something about this mystical place just made sense to me and the "bonkers-ness" has been wildly blown all out of proportion. Truthfully, I think this is his most tactfully tame film since The Village (i would say The Visit had it not been for its excellent use of found footage). Old boldly states yes M. Night is an artist and yes, he should always be here because of the undeniable power of his thoughtful originality and unabashedly ruthless disregard for convention. Equal parts Buñuel, Hitchcock, and De Palma, but holistically and beautifully Shyamalan. Thanks for bringing the magic back home.
