I finally got around to checking this out and was not disappointed. I'm not that big into anime, and this is my first watched anime film. That being said I think it was a great opener. This is a gorgeous film with beautiful designs and voice work. The characters are enriching and pull you into the movie immediately. The story sways from playful to serious and never feels forced or disjointed. Its' themes remind me of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, if not better executed than that.
Although there are some slight plot holes this is one of the sadder films I've seen lately and will be one I look forward to revisiting.
