Shin Godzilla

Shin Godzilla ★★★½

Godzilla has long been used as allegory, since its creation, and this is no exception. Here, we see a satire of bureaucracy and traditional hierarchies. And it feels strongly of a post-Fukushima mindset. This is one of the weirdest Godzilla films I've seen, tonally different than any before. It's also the weirdest, and the grossest version of Godzilla to date. Just disgusting. This is back to being the disaster created by Humanity, as opposed to the force of Nature or will of the Earth.
