  Adam McKay’s movies just work for me. I feel his sense of frustration. I don’t care that the point isn’t always made in a clever way. It’s a movie that shouts and that feels right with how the world is right now. 

  Plus I really enjoyed how funny everyone was in this.

  The Whale 2022

  I do think it’s a little messy thematically and some moments feel kinda silly. But the performances are phenom and I find these equally endearing and despicable characters highly watchable. I also like the visual approach a lot. The murky, dim interior that we’re confined to as our protagonist is also trapped in his own regret, grief, and failing. The pouring of light into the room at the end is a very powerful visual choice even if it’s kinda obvious.
