Ethan’s review published on Letterboxd:
This ain't no party, this ain't no disco
This ain't no fooling around
No time for dancing, or lovey dovey
I ain't got time for that now
An utterly hypnotic, frenetic, Lynchian, drug-fuelled spiritual communion celebrating artistry, and creativity in its purest form. From comically oversized suits to pendulum-swinging kneecaps to David Byrne running laps around the stage, Stop Making Sense is more than a typical concert film; it is a blisteringly radiant, unrelenting, psychedelic fever dream that is possibly the greatest concert film ever made.
Jesus lives and his name is David Byrne...but then again, did he dance like this?
