Ok yeah I’m a big fan of this one! It might seem like praising a big movie for clearing a very low bar, but the base storytelling device of using a seemingly disconnected vignette to represent the thematic whole is so much more interesting and sophisticated than almost any studio blockbuster released in the last 5 years. It’s cool when a contemporary filmmaker has a well-rounded understanding of the history of filmmaking and uses his preferred tools instead of the prescribed ones. Excited for whatever he does next.
