There is a lot to love about “Carol”: The beautiful aesthetic, the moving and heartfelt story, the mesmerizing atmosphere, the wonderful music, and the two outstanding lead performances. Cate Blanchett as Carol is as great and charismatic as ever, but my highlight is Rooney Mara as the loveable cutie Therese. Hard to believe that Mara also played Lisbeth Salander in “The Girl with the Dragoon Tattoo”, I hardly recognized her.
The film didn´t have as much of a lasting impact on me as on many other people (look at all those 5-star ratings) but it definitely was a warm, aesthetically pleasing, and emotionally captivating cinematic experience.
